The husband of Maharani Lakshmi Bayi of Travancore, he was a gifted poet and acclaimed as “Kerala Kalidasa” in Travancore. He helped Raja Ravi Varma with the English language. He acquired the fairly inaccessible Winsor & Newton oil paints from Madras for Raja Ravi Varma through an advertisement in a newspaper and pushed him a step further towards his maturity as an artist.
The elder sister of Ravi varma’s wife; Maha prabha Thampuratty. She was adopted into the Travancore family and became the senior Rani of Travancore.
